Like most soulful singers, TONYAA (spelled t-o-n-y-a-a), started singing as a child in the church. As years progressed, she added Jazz, R&B, POP, Country and NeoSoul to her arsenal. She became a Memphis favorite - having a long standing gig at a popular restaurant and lounge, and doing private events with local bands. She has shared the stage with many notable artists, including Ledisi, Angie Stone, and Justin Timberlake.
In 2015, the desire for growth and better connections in the music industry took her to Atlanta.
In 2017, TONYAA released an EP called THANK YOU FOR WAITING; available for download on most streaming platforms.
For the past year, TONYAA has been building her catalog as a songwriter by working with other songwriters in an organization called Writing Session America. Her current goals are to build a large catalog of songs, placements with notable artists, and sync licensing for commercials, TV and Film.

Note: Host acknowledges that she may have misquoted the lyrics to the Mister Rogers song. Also, the other song she couldn't think of was "Through It All" by Andrae Crouch. She requests that you charge it to her head, and not her heart.

Note: Host was referring to Judy Jacobs song "Days of Elijah." She apologizes for not being able to remember the artist's first name nor song title during this interview.
