SSgt Wynthom Thomas is an aircraft Loadmaster in the United States Air Force. Born to Wanda and Sherwyn Thomas at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, Sergeant Thomas spent his childhood to young adult years in what he refers to as the “Mid-South” or “Tri-State” region of the Southern United States. These terms referring to the close proximity of the states of Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas.
As a multi-sport athlete in high school and a brief stint as a collegiate football player, a career in athletics was more apparent than one in the service. In 2011, a then 18 year old Thomas decided to enlist in the Air Force with the intention of being a Fireman in the military. Unfortunately they were not taking people for that career field at the time, so his recruiter decided to put his name in for the job of an aircraft Loadmaster.
Shortly after, Thomas was on his first flight ever on a plane out of Memphis headed to basic training in San Antonio, Texas. There he would complete the eight week basic training course for the Air Force. After completing basic training, Sergeant Thomas would go on to serve at the bases in Little Rock, Arkansas, Yokota AFB in Japan, Kirkland AFB in New Mexico, and at Moody AFB in Valdosta, Georgia. During his eight years of service, Sergeant Thomas has received numerous ribbons for being a part of outstanding units and was also awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal for the four years he spent in Japan.
Editor's Note: During this interview, in error, SSgt. Thomas said that "Atlas Shrugged" is a Nonfiction book. He later made a correction with Aspiring To Be Read that it is a Fiction novel.
